Organized Crime
Engaging in organized crime is committing or conspiring to commit one of more than a dozen specified crimes as either a member of a criminal street gang or has a group of 3 or more people working for profits. The penalty for the offense is one degree higher than the underlying offense. For example, a person arrested for breaking into a car and stealing property inside would face a Class A misdemeanor. This is punishable by a fine of up to $4,000 and up to 1 year in county jail. If this is combined with engaging in organized crime, the offense would be raised and the maximum punishment becomes up to a $10,000 fine and up to 2 years in prison.

The maximum penalty (again depending on the underlying crime) for engaging in organized crime is:

-
A 1st degree felony
-
Up to $10,000 fine
-
5 years to 99 years or life in prison
